About this Item

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2000
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
The 2000 South African vintage produced wines of genuine concentration and freshness from Stellenbosch’s best elevated Helderberg and Simonsberg sites, and the Grangehurst Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from this vintage was selected by the Cape Winemakers Guild for their annual auction, a recognition reserved exclusively for wines judged to represent the pinnacle of South African craft winemaking in any given year. Released at considerable bottle age in Jeremy Walker’s characteristic style, the 2000 Reserve has shown remarkable ageing potential, its cassis, cedar and mocha complexity deepening with time. Grangehurst was established in 1992 and Walker’s handcrafted, open-vessel fermentation and extended French oak ageing philosophy has earned the Reserve label a devoted international following. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant with small additions of Merlot.

Provenance

This lot comes from the late Harold Eedes, who served as Managing Director of Wine Magazine for nine years. A highly respected and much-loved figure in the South African wine industry, Harold assembled a thoughtful collection that includes a number of mature Bordeaux wines. The wines have been professionally stored under temperature-controlled conditions at Brice & Burnett since acquisition.
