About this Item

Elim Shiraz 2017
1 (1 x 1) 1500ml
The Elim Shiraz grapes are grown in the cool maritime climate of Elim close to Cape Agulhas, a wine-growing potential that cellar master Charles Hopkins saw more than 20 years ago when he identified it as the ideal climate for making the distinctive rotundone style of shiraz – alluringly fragrant with deep black pepper intensity.

This exceptional Shiraz conveys black cherry, lavender, and blackberry aromas. It offers a rich taste with solid but soft tannins, backed by well-unified oak. It is complex and multi-dimensional with layers of mulberries and white pepper. This is a bold and full-bodied Shiraz that will please even the most refined palates of Shiraz aficionados.

Critics Ratings

‘Matured for 13 months in second- and third-fill French oak barrels. A very primary nose with berries, pepper and some smoky reduction to the fore. The palate has lovely fruit concentration, zippy acidity and crunchy tannins. Intense but not weighty, this is wine is admirable for both its focus and elegance.’ - Winemag Shiraz Report 2019, 95/100 (Aug 2019)
