'From three different Elim vineyards, each planted to a different clone. Matured for 11 months in old French oak. It's all there on the nose - red and black fruit, olive, fynbos, pepper and spice. The palate is dense yet fresh with fine tannins. Not without heft at 14.5% alcohol.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100 (Nov 2016)
'The 2015 Syrah Reserve comes from three different parcels from decomposed granite and shale soils, the vines planted between 1997 and 2005, undergoing a natural ferment in 225 and 500-liter used barriques. This has a very composed bouquet with mulberry, redcurrant and violet aromas, very expressive and showing excellent varietal typicité. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, certainly a cooler style of Syrah, although there is a decent 14.5% alcohol (due to the opening of the canopies). There is a slight tingle of white pepper on the finish that lingers in the mouth. 2018-2028' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (Apr 2017
