‘Grapes from two blocks, one in Paardeberg planted in 1965 and the other in Abbotsdale planted in 1980. Fermented and matured for 11 months in old barrels of various sizes. Dried peach and apricot, a hint of floral perfume, hay and some yeasty complexity. Excellent concentration without being at all weighty, fresh but not aggressive acidity and a savoury finish – layers of flavour combined with lovely drinkability.’ - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 92/100 (Jan 2017)
'Very fresh and spicy with lifted, juicy raspberry and red cherries. Pretty and smashable, if a tiny bit rustic. But that’s part of this wine’s charm.’ - Jamie Goode, Wineanorak, 92/100 (Jul 2016)
‘Dark but not intense crimson. Stemmy and just a little nutty. Syrah’s dark pepper. Smoky and a little reductive but still has lively dark-red fruit. Dry textured and savoury on the finish, the tannins light but just right.’ - Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Oct 2017)
