About this Item

Syrah 2011
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
This is one of South Africa's most exciting new vineyards. This is the very first Syrah to be released from a vineyard planted in 2004 and is South Africa's only true continental terroir. At 1500 meters above sea level, situated in Sutherland in the Karoo, this producer has found that vineyards that are covered in snow in winter produce a unique structure that sets this wine apart from their coastal wines.

Critics Ratings

'Red and black fruit, pepper plus some subtle smoky, meaty notes. Well defined fruit, lemon-like acidity with fine but still nicely grippy tannins. Classically styled (abv 14% and matured for 15 months in French oak, 20% new). Exciting and unusual - not as rich and ripe as Stellenbosch Shiraz nor as stalky as new-wave Swartland.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 91/100 (Jun 2014)
