About this Item
French 1860-1945
René Lalique 'Quatre Soleil' opalescent and sepia-stained perfume bottle and stopper, No. 505, designed 1912
script-engraved 'R. Lalique France No.505'
mould-blown glass
height: 7,5cm; diameter: 8cm
Notes
This perfume bottle, decorated with four stylised sun medallions, was created by Lalique during the early years of his transition from jewellery to glassmaking. This was one of his generic perfume bottles that could be bought empty and was not commissioned by a specific perfume house.
The body of the bottle is blown-moulded, while the stopper is press-moulded, which was common for Lalique perfume bottles.
