About this Item
Olifantsfontein, South Africa 1943-1955
Jug with flared rim
impressed stamp L over W in circle
double-glazed, hand-thrown earthenware

Notes
Although Linn Ware was known for producing domestic utilitarian wares such as this milk jug, these were hand-finished, bridging the gap between commercial production and artisan studio ceramics.
The Linn Ware studio used two different studio impressed marks, either an L above a W in a circle as seen on this jug, or an impressed dish.
