About this Item
Olifantsfontein, South Africa 1943-1955
Bulbous bowl with flared neck and floral frog, two
'LINN WARE' painted in oxide script on the underside
impressed dish stamp
double-glazed, hand-thrown earthenware
height: 8cm; diameter: 17,5cm
Notes
The characteristic turquoise or 'deep-sea green' of many Ceramic Studio and Linn Ware vessels is reminiscent of some of Keith Murray's vases for Wedgewood.
The results achieved, however, from hand-throwing and double-glazing, make the finished result much more sensual than the machine finish and uniform glazing achieved by the British factory.
