portfolio consists of 19 unbound prints in a linen covered portfolio case, includes a title page inscribed with a dedication that reads 'Dedicated to the International Conference in Defense of Children 1952'; sixteen signed and dated 17 Nov 1956 in ink in the margin; two signed twice, dated '55 and 21 Oct '56 and inscribed with the titles 'Dance', 'Terracotta from Bengal' and 'Bombay' in ink in the margin; one signed twice, dated '53 and 21 Oct '56 and inscribed with the title 'In the Evening Tramcar' and 'Bombay' in ink in the margin

Please note that the present lot shows the following condition issues: oxidisation, the edges of the paper are unevenly cut, foxing, minor surface dirt, with some prints showing insect damage and tears to the margins. Sixteen prints are laid down individually, with three being laid on a single backing; the portfolio is unbound. The linen-covered case shows severe age-related wear, surface dirt, and moderate staining.
Accompanied by an article written by Mulk Raj Anand and a newspaper clipping dated 17.5.1963 by Vladimir Fiala adhered to the portfolio backing.
