The 100% whole-bunch fruit is from the same single vineyard as the Boschkloof Epilogue and made by the same winemaker - Reenen Borman. It is a single clone Syrah SH99, whereas Boschkloof is a blend of two clones. However, the Sons of Sugarland falls under the Ron Burgundy Wines umbrella (like the Patatsfontein Chenin Blanc and Patatsblanc Colombard/Chenin Blanc), a three-way joint venture between Reenen Borman, Henk Kotze and Fritz Schoon.

‘Sons of Sugarland is made with grapes from the same vineyard as Lukas van Loggerenberg's Graft, but is very different in style. Fermented and aged in concrete with 100% whole bunches, it's a garrigue spicy red with dense blackberry fruit and lavender and pepper top notes. 2021-26’ – Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2020, 94/100
‘The 2019 Sons of Sugarland is 100% whole bunch, aged entirely in cement. It has an intense wild strawberry, raspberry and pressed rose petal bouquet of fine delineation, quite sensual and alluring. The palate is well balanced with finely chiseled tannins, and quite saline and spicy, leading to a harmonious, very natural and long finish.
