MR de Compostella from Bruwer Raats and Mzokhona Mvemve has one of the most successful critical track records out of almost any wine produced in South Africa and has led the way as the most eminent and collectable ultra-premium red wine from the country. Mvemve Raats was founded on friendship and the quest for creating excellence through wine. It released its maiden vintage 2004 in 2006 guided by an ambitious philosophy of achieving the best final quality blend through ruthless vineyard and barrel selection and an overriding obsession with consistency of quality.

All five Bordeaux varieties are tasted and evaluated in a rigorous blind scoring process selected from the best barrels to create the final blend. The variety scoring the highest becomes the leading component of that vintage. What developed was a wine not driven by a style or variety but by what was best from that vintage.
