About this Item
6 x 750ml bottles of Cederberg CWG Teen Die Hoog Shiraz, comprising 3 bottles 2019 and 3 bottles 2020
This six-bottle vertical selection showcases three bottles each of the CWG Teen Die Hoog Shiraz from the 2019 and 2020 Cape Winemakers Guild vintages, crafted by David Nieuwoudt.
Sourced from one of the highest-altitude vineyards in the country, Teen Die Hoog (“Against the Heights”) is a bold expression of mountain-grown Shiraz. Extreme diurnal shifts, red shale, and pure air at over 1 000 metres above sea level result in wines of remarkable clarity, structure, and poise.
The 2019 presents lifted aromatics of violets, red berries, and white pepper, underpinned by bright acidity and fine, chalky tannins. A cooler vintage, it offers elegance and tension with excellent ageing potential.
The 2020 brings more concentration and depth, with darker fruit, savoury spice, and a fuller mid-palate, while retaining the hallmark freshness and mineral drive of this site.
Crafted exclusively for the CWG Auction, these small-lot wines are matured in seasoned French oak to preserve vineyard character and natural intensity. David Nieuwoudt’s steady hand and deep understanding of extreme terroir shine through in both vintages.
