Lafon Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine 2015'
The 2015 Macon Milly Lamartine has a lovely apple blossom and limestone-scented bouquet that unfurls wonderfully in the glass but retains its elegance. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, saline in the mouth with a precise and detailed finish. This is an excellent, quite nuanced wine that might be holding something up its sleeve for later.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Aug 2017)
‘A whiff of reduction doesn't mask the cooler underlying aromas of pear, apple, quinine and citrus zest. The round, delicious and slightly more vibrant flavors deliver excellent length if perhaps not quite the same depth on the zippier and slightly drier finish. This too is really very good for what it is.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com (Oct 2017)
‘This is a cooler terroir than Mâcon-Prissé, and it has produced a beautifully floral wine in 2015, bursting with citrus zest and white flowers. There is nice focus, cut and grip on the finish.' - William Kelley, Decanter
‘(bottled in July; a blend of two big east-facing vineyards located far from the river at an altitude of 400 meters, picked at the end in 2015, on September 9; done in foudres and demi-muids ): Subtle aromas of lemon and white flowers. Rich but tight, showing a youthful sweet/sour quality owing to its very sound acidity for the year (4.5 grams per liter, according to Gon, who noted that she did no acidification in 2015). Saline more than fruity today and in need of time in bottle to harmonize.’ - Stephen Tanzver, Vinous (Sep 2016)
Lafon Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon Mâcon-Uchizy Les Maranche 2015
‘The 2015 Macon Uchizy les Maranches has a clean and precise bouquet, quite chalky and well defined, a more neutral take on Mâcon that expresses more of the terroir rather than fruit. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, not quite as detailed as I was expecting after the aromatics but with satisfying weight on the spicy, quite sappy finish.' - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Aug 2017)
‘Here the reduction is a bit more prominent though not so much as to completely mask the underlying aromas of citrus and pear. Otherwise there is good mid-palate volume to the round, fleshy and citrus-inflected flavors that possess better length than depth though this is also really quite good.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, (Oct 2017)
‘(from a blend of old and young vines in a very warm spot--always with the lowest acidity in the cellar, according to Gon, who noted that the young vines bring needed freshness): Pure Chardonnay stone fruit aromas show an exotic, candied aspect. Then surprisingly juicy and energetic, even youthfully bound-up, with a fresh apricot flavor dominating in the early going. A bit simple today, and slightly phenolic on the back end. The nose is very ripe but the palate suggests early picking.’ - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Sep 2016)
