engraved 'Archimede Seguso Murano'
Notes
Archimede Seguso, born in Murano on December 17, 1909, began glassmaking at age 11, painstakingly reproducing 18th‑century works before emerging as a master in his early twenties, particularly skilled in heavy glass techniques and later earning the nickname “Master of Animals” for his exquisitely crafted animal sculptures. He played a central role at Seguso Vetri d’Arte and exhibited regularly at the Venice Biennale from the 1930s to 1972. In 1946, seeking full creative freedom, he founded his own Vetreria Artistica Archimede Seguso, where he expanded his artistic language with chandeliers, filigrana, merletti, piume, sommerso, and bold colour experiments.
