Critics Ratings
‘The 2013 Mount Bullet Merlot follows up the impressive 2012. Matured in 40% new oak, it has a satisfying black cherry and raspberry scented bouquet with cedar and sandalwood scents developing. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant sappiness on the entry, quite cohesive with attractive black cherry and raspberry fruit, cedar and white pepper notes fanning out on the finish. Enjoy this well-made Merlot now and over the next 3-4 years.’ - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (Apr 2017)
‘The newly released 2013 shows black fruit, a hint of olive, a slight leafy quality and some attractive oak-derived character. The palate has good depth of flavour, fresh acidity and firm but fine tannins making for an austere finish. As ever, very carefully assembled and a crucial reference point when it comes to the debate about the prospects of the variety in the Cape.’ - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 91/100 (Jul 2016)
