'This is juicy and fresh, beautiful aromatics with a crushed mint grip as it travels through the palate. One of the easiest to recommend in terms of its lift and character. Full of spice. 1% Cabernet Franc. Last vintage with Petit Verdot in the blend. 2021-2032' - Jane Anson, Decanter, 91/100 (Feb 2021)
'Las Cases's 2011 Le Petit Lion is a blend of 54% Merlot, 42.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. At 13.6%, it is slightly higher in alcohol than the grand vin because of the riper Merlot component. Its deep plum/purple color is accompanied by lovely berry and mocha fruit intertwined with a hint of coffee beans. With good fatness, it should drink nicely for a decade.' - Robert M. Parker, Jr., Wine Advocate (Apr 2012)
'Second wine of Las Cases. (Clos du Marquis is a different wine not a second wine.) Includes more of the old Merlot that used to go into the Clos du Marquis, which is now more Cab dominated. Deep crimson. Dusty minerally red fruit. just a little smoky. Lithe and supple and lots of fresh red fruit. Bright with some dusty but not dry tannin. Tight but not at all hard. 2017- 2027' - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Apr 2012)
'Dark, ripe and winey, with plum, cassis and blackberry fruit pumping along, showing mouthwatering anise and fruitcake notes. Has depth and muscle, but remains approachable now.' - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator (Mar 2014)
