About this Item
The Eleanor Chardonnay honours the matriarch of the Finlayson family who, with her husband Maurice, owned Hartenberg Estate (then "Montagne") from 1948 to 1977. Strong and resolute in character, yet always sophisticated and poised, who better personfies the super-premium Chardonnay.

'Carl Schultz acknowledges that 2016 wasn't the easiest vintage for white wines, but he's succeeded in producing an excellent Eleanor, which even surpasses the 2015. Picked early for elegance, it's pithy, leesy and sensitively oaked, with citrus and stone fruit flavours. 2019-26' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 95/100
'The 2016 The Eleanor Chardonnay begins with lemon rind notes and aromas of green apple skin along with tones of oak, underripe pineapple and melon nuances. Medium-bodied in the palate, the wine bursts with energetic acidity and flavors of popcorn kernel that effortlessly glide across the mid-palate, finishing with an acid kick on the back end. The lasting flavors linger with intention and precision. This is a delicious Chardonnay. Bravo. 2020-2026' - Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, 90+/100
