Notes
Kevin Roberts often includes cows/bulls in his work as powerful symbols of human connection to nature and culture. Fascinated by 'the intimate and long relationship between man and cattle in Africa', Roberts uses the cow to suggest ideas of possession, wealth, worship, and the female principle. By placing cows on palettes or trestles, he evokes both reverence and the deep-seated role of cattle in African life. Through these symbols, Roberts enriches his paintings with layered meanings that invite personal interpretation while celebrating tradition and spirituality.
