Notes
Robert Henderson Blyth, born in Glasgow, Scotland, and a student at the Glasgow School of Art, served with the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War II, continuing to paint while stationed in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. His wartime experiences influenced his notable work. After the war, Blyth won the Guthrie Award, taught at the Edinburgh School of Art, and later headed the drawing department at Gray's School of Art until his passing in 1970, with a memorial exhibition organised by the Scottish Arts Council touring Scotland in 1972.
