Notes
This dog is the maquette for the dog made by Khulumelaphi Mahlambisa and designed by Jo Thorpe who ran the African Art Centre in Durban between 1963 and 1991.
The dog was made for Jo Thorpe as her dog to carry around with her to functions. It was a joke, to imitate Jill Addleson, the longstanding Curator of the Durban Art Gallery, who was well known for carrying her dog everywhere.
