Notes
Ken Hale was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He earned an MFA from the University of Illinois and is currently a professor in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas. Hales work is thematic and features a repetitive use of personal icons that often dominate compositions filled with negative space. Hale masterfully employs color variation and layering to create the illusion of volumetric shapes. His work can be found in several prestigious permanent collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Huntington Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, and various United States embassies.
