About this Item
engraved D READE '95
Notes
David Reade is known for his work in the creation of well-proportioned glass items, which often feature interesting designs and high-quality craftsmanship. These items are typically handmade and may include a range of styles, from traditional to modern. Reade's work is notable for its attention to detail and a balance of vibrant colours and complex patterns.
A transparent glass body blown with colourfull swirls, showcases Reade's skill in integrating vibrant colours into his pieces. Reade makes his clear glass himself, from "true Capes sand", and each piece starts as a ball of molten glass at the
end of an iron pipe. His assistant then blows through the pipe, while he shapes the ball, using hand-held tools.
