Notes

David Reade is known for his work in the creation of glass paperweights, which often feature intricate designs and high-quality craftsmanship. His paperweights are typically handmade and may include a range of styles, from traditional to modern. Reade's work is notable for its attention to detail and the use of vibrant colours and complex patterns.

A transparent glass body blown with colourful swirls, showcases Reade's skill in integrating vibrant colours into his pieces. Reade makes his clear glass himself, from Cape sand, and each piece starts as a ball of molten glass at the end of an iron pipe. His assistant then blows through the pipe, while he shapes the ball, using hand-held tools.
