About this Item
Domaine de Chevalier is family-run, leading winery in Pessac-Leognan dating back to the late 1600’s. Today it's owned by the Bernard family and is renowned for its fine and long-aging red and white wines. It is the only property in Bordeaux recognised as a Domaine; the 120-hectare estate is located in the middle of a forest which protects the vines from extreme temperatures. Sustainable farming methods are practiced in the vineyards and over 30 hectares of vines are farmed using biodynamic farming techniques.

'Garnet with a light brick rim. Red-fruit notes but the oak still seems to be lingering. There’s a touch of vanilla aromatically, some sweetness on the palate and slightly dry finish. Better maturity though, and freshness as always.' - James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Sep 2023)
'Dried herbs and baked fruit - nicely ripe blackcurrants. Supple and agile, this has energy and focus. Lively acidity gives the lift and the bounce but the tannins do well to support the frame. Feels a bit more balanced and harmonious than some, smooth. There's a gentle ease of drinking, nothing too much or out of place, everything in harmony. It's not a massive wine, with layers and depth, but there's fruit forwardness, lovely mineral terroir markers, balancing acidity, iodine and bloody aspects. Not super long, but graceful and super charming. I like this one.' - Georgina Hindle, Decanter.com, 93/100 (Sep 2023)
'Medium red with an amber rim. Woodsy notes of spicecake and forest floor complicate redcurrant, tobacco, mocha, and smoke on the nose. Nicely concentrated and vibrant, with a cool, crisp quality to the clean flavors of red fruits, spices, and minerals. Builds nicely on the back end, finishing with smooth tannins and above-average length.' - Ian D'Agata, Vinous, 91/100 (Apr 2013)
