The palate is certainly ripe here, but the wine has plenty of varietal character with notes of crushed rock, blackberry and iodine, subtle oak, and a fresh, stony finish. 'The 2013 Shiraz has a slightly broody nose compared to the 2012, a little earthier and less fruit-driven perhaps, though still nicely defined. The palate is better - quite succulent in the mouth with plenty of sweet black cherries and blueberry mixed with a dash of soy, although the finish would benefit from more finesse.
