Critics Ratings

'This Cabernet-based blend opens with deep cassis and herb aromas. A svelte, evenly textured palate follows, with dark berry and plum flavors sporting tobacco accents. Finely balanced, it finishes long, with full, even tannins.' - Wine Enthusiast (Dec 2004)

‘Magnificent addition to Cape’s burgeoning Bordeaux pantheon. Latest 1999 - 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 % Merlot blend (vintage rather than formula dependent) more pulse-racing than contemplative, cerebral 1998. Hedonistic, opulent, weighty (14% alc), but the drama is matched by refinement - tantalising clove, dark forest berry aromas; textural richness reined in my supple, ripe tannins; taut, pulsing persistence. Effortlessly absorbs 26 months new Taransaud/Demptos barrelling. Delicious, but destined for greater heights over minimum 7-8 years. Grapes selected from prime vineyards, blended during vinification.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2002, 4.5*
