Notes

Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) was an Italian designer and architect who brought Italian design to the world's attention in the post-war period. He was born into a family of artisan furniture makers which fostered his appreciation for the arts, crafts and furniture making. He utilized new modes of production, integrating industrial materials such as steel and rubber and in 1953 he founded furniture manufacturer Tecno with his brother. His company followed a holistic approach in which the "designer, maker, art director, and distributor merge harmoniously into one."
