The Loire
About the SessionAn eclectic selection of interesting and super rare vintages from the Loire Valley. Rich in ancient limestone and silex soils, the Loire valley is known for their passionate, historic family producers, many of them farming organically, and forming the spiritual cradle of noble varieties including the likes of Sauvignon blanc in the famous appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume in the continental east, through the Chenins from Vouvray, and Cabernet Franc from Chinon and Saumur further downstream to the west. Brimming with variety and value, the catalogue includes highly collectable lots from acclaimed classics like Domaine Huet, Alphonse Mellot, Henri Bourgeois and Thierry Germain.

Critics Ratings
des Aubuisières Vouvray Le Marigny 2003
‘Honeyed, sweet and clean. Missing the idiosyncracy of the best examples. Good in an identifiable and predictable way.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Jan 2013)
des Aubuisières Vouvray Le Marigny Sec 2012
Pale yellow and notes of honey, white flowers, and green apple. On the palate, it is dry with flavors of green apple, lemon, and mineral notes. The wine has a medium body and a crisp acidity that balances the fruit flavors and adds a refreshing quality to the wine.
des Aubuisières Vouvray Cuvée de Silex 2013
‘Honeyed, opulent nose – really does give the impression of sweetness even though it's properly dry. Quick finish.’ – Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 15.5/20 (Jan 2014)
‘Greenish yellow. Aromas of peach and mint. The slightly dried fruit flavors are complemented by herbs and bitter orange pith. Finishes on a malty note. This is a chenin blanc that I have often enjoyed, but the 2013 was not showing the charm I had expected when I tasted it.’ – Joel B Payne, Vinous (Dec 2014)
