A Botswanan coiled mokolwane palm leaf woven basket
conical, with plant and root dye grass binding
22cm high by 38cm diameter
Notes
The women of the Bayei and Hambukushu tribes use the leaves of the mokolwane palm. Grass is used for the coil and a split palm leaf is used for the binding and weaving. The shape of the basket implies it was used as a transportation vessel.
