6 x 750ml bottles of wine produced by Anique Ceronio who is graduating from the Protégé Programme this year.
This wine was made at De Grendel, under the guidance of Anique's Mentor Charles Hopkins.

100% Shiraz

Grapes were separated into two tanks, one being 100% whole bunch and the other 50% whole bunch. Punch-downs were done twice a day. Pressed and racked into barrel where the wine completed malolactic. The 100% whole bunch tank was taken to an older French oak barrel (2016) and the 50% whole bunch tank was taken to a new French oak barrel (2021). The wine was then racked, filtered, and blended into a 250 litre tank. A 50/50 blend was made up of the 2016 barrel and the 2021 barrel. The wine was hand bottled two weeks later.

Tasting Notes: Youthful pale purple in colour. Pronounced nose of perfume, pungent spice of white pepper, juniper, and darker fruits of black currant, black plums, and black cherries. A hint of floral and subtle oak aromas. Elegant palate with a soft tannin structure, darker fruits carrying over on the palate. Spices of cloves, nutmeg, and smokiness on the palate. Well integrated and balanced wine with a long finish.

This wine is packed in a wooden box.
