About this Item
Scenes from a movie based on the life of Napoleon were shot on the Cinéma site the year before vineyards were introduced, which gave this wine its name. This Cuvée is a selection of barrels made from said single vineyard, a premium site in the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge that was meticulously designed to produce the highest quality Pinot Noir with the planting of high density vines using disease-free Dijon clones.

Critics Ratings
'2nd vintage produced. Notable oak combines with barnyard and ripe red fruit aromas. Cola and tarry notes on the palate that still has a lot of structure and pedigree, impressive from the young vines at the time. Good viscosity and chewy tannins. Long finish. Comfortably in drinking window, but very stable to last.' - Higgo Jacobs (Feb 2022)
'2009 sultry and smoky, dark cherry notes, raspberry whiffs, cinnamon and allspice. Lightly textured and savoury, an appealing quince-like youthful astringency to the tannins. Whole-berry fermentation, with whole cluster portion. 75% new oak.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2011, 4.5*
