About this Item
The family-run, 160-hectare estate of San Giusto a Rentennano overlooks the upper course of the Arbia river in southern Tuscany, near Gaiole in Chianti. Starting life in 1204 as a medieval monastery of Cistercian nuns, San Giusto a Rentennano came into the Martini di Cigala family via marriage in 1914. In the ‘50s, it was inherited by Enrico Martini di Cigala and then, in 1992, passed on to his nine children; six of whom manage the estate and its 31-hectares of vines to this day. Since 2006, all the land on the estate has been organic certified. Thanks to the varied geological conditions, the hills around Gaiole are among the most exciting growing areas in Tuscany and the unique style of their wines is reflected in the numerous international and local awards.

Critics Ratings
‘The 2007 Percarlo flows across the palate with tons of depth and richness. It is one of the few Tuscan 2007s that hasn’t been too distorted by the heat of the year. There is plenty of Sangiovese nuance in this large-scaled, voluptuous wine. All the elements are very nicely balanced in the 2007. This isn’t a huge, structured vintage of Percarlo, but in exchange the wine should drink well earlier than some of the more powerful surrounding vintages, namely 2006 and 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.’ - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, 96/100 (Jun 2012)
‘Aromas and flavors of ripe plum, cherry, almond and spice are framed by broad tannins. Good acidity keeps this focused and drives the lingering finish. Still youthful, yet approachable.—Non-blind Percarlo vertical (August 2018). Drink now through 2033.’ - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Aug 2018)
