A Chinese Export black lacquer and gilt tea caddy, late 19th century
the octagonal hinged stepped cover enclosing a pair of engraved removable tin-lined compartments fitted with covers with ivory ball-shaped handles, raised on bat-shaped feet, the whole gilded with foliage, two pairs of contesting dragons chasing a flaming pearl and cartouches enclosing various figural scenes, some distress to the lacquer, 13,8cm high, 22,2cm wide, 15,8cm deep
