Situated on the scenic slopes of the Helderberg mountain, Rust en Vrede is one of Stellenbosch’s oldest estates, dating back to 1694 and is today owned by Jean Engelbrecht. The fine Helderberg terroir produces concentrated and highly celebrated reds.

Critics Ratings

‘These reflect vintage with subtlety, honesty, 1999 lighter-textured, more ethereal than Bordeaux-like 1998 (4.5*), but persuasive, satisfying. Varietal purity complemented by savoury acidity, fine-boned structure, tapered dry finish. Oak (18 months in new French) adds to overall sophistication.' - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2003, 4*
