Critics Ratings
'Present 1988 in leaner style, not as significantly different from the cabernet as in most years, when it’s fuller, more accessible, more complex, more oaky. (Between 18-22 months in new and second fill Nevers oak barrels.) But 1988 nonetheless powerful, long-tasting. (Blend about 70-75% cabernet sauvignon with 10% merlot and 15% cabernet franc and a dash of souzao and melbec.) In Cape context powerhouse, not effete wines. Don’t look for elegance, at least to early, though Paul Sauer achieve accessible harmony a year or two ahead of straight cabernets.' - Platter's SA Guide 1992 - 4*
