A Japanese ko-kutani iridescent yellow, purple and black enamelled dish, Edo period, 18th century

the centre enamelled with ho-ho birds in veridian green and dark purple amongst stylised clouds against a yellow ground, the cavetto with a purple and black diaper border, bordered by alternating foliate and cell-diaper medallions against a dark green ground, the reverse with veridian green glaze highlighted in black with stylised clouds, underglaze green seal mark, hairline crack, 33cm diameter
