A Chinese hardwood carved mahjong set, early 20th century
rectangular, the hinged cover carved in high relief with a fierce dragon, its eyes inset with metal, the interior carved with a pair of contesting dragons each with a ruby glass eye, fitted with covered and open compartments enclosing tiles, the frieze with secret locking slide, the sides carved with contesting dragons, raised on a plinth base, 11cm high, 28cm wide, 18cm deep, with mahjong card instructions
