A Chinese famille-verte vase and cover, Qing Dynasty, 19th century
the baluster body decorated with two panels each enclosing a bird amongst flowering blooms and sprays of blooms with insects above, interspersed with four further medallions, all against an iron-red ground of scrolling foliage and flowerheads, the shoulders enamelled with peony blooms against a diaper ground, the neck with four sprays of blooms and scrolling foliage, the domed cover similarly decorated surmounted with a ball finial enamelled with a flowerhead, underglaze double-blue ring mark, repaired chip to cover, 30,5cm high
