About this Item

Chevalier-Montrachet, 2004
1 (1 x 1) 750ml

Bouchard Père et Fils is a sizable and historic Burgundy wine estate, based in Beaune. The largest vineyard owner in the Côte d'Or, it produces more than 100 wines mostly made from Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, in a range that also includes appellations in the Maconnais, Côte Chalonnaise and Beaujolais regions.

Bouchard Père et Fils is one of the oldest wine estates in Burgundy, founded in 1731. In 1995 it was sold to Joseph Henriot, and became part of Groupe La Vigie along with major brands like Champagne Henriot and Chablis' William Fèvre. Bouchard Père et Fils should not be confused with Bouchard Aîné et Fils, which is owned by Boisset.

Critics Ratings

'Delicate. Introvert. Very tense without great intensity. Fine and fine-boned, but I suspect those who pay these prices may want some more obvious reward. Satin texture.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jan 2006)

'The richness of this wine envelops you from the start. It is all about opulence, but it's balanced with layers of ripe fruit and wood. At this stage in its long life, this wine from a fine white wine vintage is still dominated by fruit. The secondary flavors will start to show in 3–4 years time. A powerful wine that does not lose sight of a potential partnership with food.' - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 95/100 (Jan 2006)

‘There is a mild touch of reduction lurking in the background of the largely mature aromas of baked apple, poached pear, spice and a touch of citrus. The hallmark minerality of a fine Chevalier is very much evident on the still attractively vibrant middle weight flavors that retain very good delineation before culminating in an impressively long and solidly complex finale.’ - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, 93/100 (Oct 2019)

'Finesse and subtlety are the hallmarks of this sleek white. The floral, lemon, hazelnut and mineral flavors build in intensity, and the finish picks up a toasty, vanilla component. Drink now through 2015.' - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Dec 2006)
