About the Session

The Emerging Painting Invitational Prize (EPI) is an international art platform developed by the African Art Galleries Association (AAGA) to support and recognise excellence of emerging painters living and working on the continent and to create new opportunities for engagement with art and art centres in Africa for local and international collectors, art professionals and general audiences.

Abubakr Moaz was born in 1993 in Khartoum, Sudan, and studied painting at fine art college. He set up his own studio in 2017 and now spends the full day painting and playing music.

He is a member of the Safrajat group and has participated in a number of exhibitions in Sudan and internationally. He has painted many murals in Khartoum and in other cities in Sudan, and participated in workshops with artists from different countries. He is currently working on a series of works entitled ‘Existence’.
