Notes
The Gardens Synagogue is a familiar building to me, although this is painted from an unusual angle. I lived in the City Bowl for 25 years and regularly walked through The Company's Gardens on my way to town or to the South African National Gallery, as it was then. I have always admired this beautiful building, and feel the artist has captured the atmosphere of Cape Town in the wintery sunlight perfectly. This reminds me of a very happy time in my life.-Ann Palmer, Senior Art Specialist.
Provenance
Acquired from the artist by the current owner's grandmother.
