A fine Sri Lankan (Ceylon) Piha Kaetta, circa 1800
made for a person of high status, the grip of finely carved ivory applied with silver fittings, the forte with finely chased and pierced scrolling foliage, the blade carved with a long pierced scrolling vine bordered by gilt-line inlay, the back and sides finely decorated, with a ribbed silver scabbard, some splits to scabbard, the blade 21,5cm long
