A Japanese bronze koro and cover, Meiji period, 1868-1912

the faceted baluster body moulded in high relief with small birds amongst flowering branches, the sides applied with a pair of ho-ho bird handles, raised on a fixed stand on four mask-headed scroll feet, the domed pierced cover surmounted by a shi-shi, later wooden base, dent to the cover, 80cm high
