A French porcelain and gilt-metal mounted mantel clock, circa 1870
the 8,5cm chapter ring with Roman hour numerals centred by a pair of doves, the backplate stamped Japy Frères & Cie Gold Medal, 39630 VR BREVETT PARIS, bell-striking movement, the dial painted with figures in eighteenth century attire in a wooded landscape, flanked by columns supporting an arch surmounted by an acorn finial, the sides applied with a pair of rams' heads and acanthus leaves, shaped base, raised on scroll feet, loss to the gilding on the porcelain plaques, restoration to the right acanthus-leaf scroll, 35cm high
