A tall Japanese ivory okimono of a man and small boys, Meiji period, 1868-1912
the laughing standing figure wearing waraji, a trumpet slung over his left shoulder, his right arm supporting a small boy perched on his right shoulder, the boy holding a drum in his left hand and a rope in his right suspending a turtle, his young friend reaching from below with his right hand clasping the turtle, seated on a rocking horse, on an oval base with two flowering chrysanthemums, numbered 20690, red lacquer reserve, crack to base, 34cm high
