A German oak bracket clock, retailed by H F Seale, Cape Town, 20th century
the 23cm circular dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute numerals, inscribed H. F. Seale, Cape Town, subsidiary strike-silent and regulation dials, four-pillar anchor escapement with Westminster quarter chime on four gongs and striking the hour on a bell, with pull repeat function, the backplate stamped W & H Sch, (Wiinterhalder and Hofmeier) the triangular pediment with gilt foliate grille, above a glazed door flanked by fluted columns, the sides with fretwork doors, on a stepped base raised on bracket feet, lacking winder, the movement in need of a service, distress, 54cm high
