Restless River is owned and run by husband and wife team Craig and Anne Wessels. Preferring to do things by hand and producing roughly only 1000 cases of each variety a year, Craig has carved out a unique style with his single vineyard Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Chardonnay (named after daughter Ava) that reflects his philosophy of minimum intervention and linear wines, shaped by place and vintage.
Critics Ratings
'… If you have ever wondered whether the Cape would ever make Grand Cru Chardonnay, the answer is in this bottle.' - Matthew Jukes, acclaimed UK wine writer and critic
'Again, but maybe more so 2013 combines understated oak, tight intensity and power with generous citrus fruit and stony element. Poised and balanced, fine line of natural acidity. Probably the best yet of this impressively developing wine.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2016, 4.5*
