About this Item
Cape Point Vineyards has one of the Cape's most unique locations, situated on the narrow southern tip of the Cape Peninsula, where it is set rather majestically against the slopes of the famous Chapman’s Peak mountain range and overlooks the nearby Atlantic Ocean – a mere 1,2km’s away. They pioneered the area, single-handedly creating a Wine of Origin demarcation, and established an international reputation and benchmark for unique and age-worthy white wines, most prominently Bordeaux whites.
Critics Ratings
‘Delicious interpretation of Sauternes dessert, featuring botrytised Semillon (92%) and Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat blend with soupçon (unauthorised in Sauternes) Chardonnay; also somewhat sweeter than Bordeaux benchmark in current 2001 (123g/l sugar vs 90-100 g/l). Honey-coloured, fresh gushy apricot nose, well-absorbed oak (barrel-fermented/aged one year, 100% new French). Medium body, zippy acid. Should mellow, gain complexity over next 2-3 years.’ - Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2004, 4*
