About this Item
Perhaps the most celebrated Nederburg wines are the sweet wines of Edelkeur and Eminence but the German-styled Noble Late Harvest Riesling is even more rare. The 'penetrating fruit acids' have integrated into a beautifully mature and savoury/sweet wine. A South Africa Classic that has aged with grace. The Edelkeur made from Chenin Blanc was only available previously at the Nederburg Auction.
This lot consists of the following wines:
Nederburg Edelkeur Auction Reserve 1999 (3 x 375ml)
Nederburg Noble Late Harvest 2000 (1 x 375ml)
Nederburg Noble Late Harvest 2002 (2 x 375ml)

Nederburg Edelkeur Auction Reserve 1999
'Grand dame of the SA botrytis desserts; original raison d'être of the Auction but not without trajectory in style, popularity. Deserted by market in 2000 (first time ever parcels left unsold) after years of acquisitive clamour, yet likely to regain demand with the next '99, which reverts to near unctuous sweetness, richness. Drier for a time mid-90's, '99 touches 221g/l sugar with powerfully concentrated bouquet of apricot, honeyed peach/mango, turbo-charged palate of extraordinary focus, telescopic length. Outstanding.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2002, 4*
Nederburg Noble Late Harvest 2002
''Sticky' to challenge the Auction stars. '02 peachy , honeyed botrytis lifted by acid fillip. 200g/l sugar.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2004, 4*
Nederburg Noble Late Harvest 2000
'Stylish, sumptuous, deliciously sweet, beyond its station in the range - nothing 'standard' about this better-value alternative to the Auction stars (below). 2000 gleaming old; ripe tropical melons, pines, toasted coconut, even spice. Terrific concentration in mouth, oily viscosity with echoing botrytis richness. Late litchi zing keeps the balance. 46% Chenin Blanc, 26% Bukettraube, 20% Muscadel, 8% Semillon. 14.6% alc. 112 g/l sugar.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide 2002, 4*
