Neil Ellis
CIWG Auction Reserve, 1992
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Neil Ellis pioneered the négociant, or non-estate, concept of sourcing grapes from growers all over the Cape. Since the early 70s Neil Ellis has become a pillar of the industry and today the legendary label is a family affair. Neil’s vision has always been to make distinctive, refined wines that are expressive of their terroir and rank amongst South Africa’s finest. With three decades plus of Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon under his belt, there are few better producers of this leading category. The CIWG Auction Reserve 1992 was a barrel selection of the finest from the already highly-rated 1992 vintage. At the time, the regular Cabernet Sauvignon received an accomplished 4-star rating in Wine Magazine. It is fully mature, savoury and earthy with a fresh acidity and red berry fruits.
